ABOUT AUTHORS

Dr. Rajendra Malhotra has an impressive career as a teacher, interpreter, and translator with specialised expertise in the Russian language. He has served as Senior Lecturer in Russian at the School of Foreign Languages, Headquarters, Integrated Defence Staff, Ministry of Defence, and as Associate Professor of Russian and the Officiating Head of the Department of Foreign Languages at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, Pune. With an extensive career spanning over three decades in the Russian language, Dr. Malhotra has an in-depth knowledge of translating scientific and technical texts, official documents, manuals, contracts, etc. from Russian into English and vice versa. His linguistic skills have been employed in providing interpretation services to various Russian delegations during their visits to the Air Headquarters and other IAF units. He has actively participated in numerous national and international conferences in collaboration with various institutions and government agencies.

Rajendra Malhotra has also compiled a two-volume English-Russian Thematic Dictionary, a comprehensive resource covering vocabulary Dr from various fields in which a Russian interpreter or translator may work. The dictionary contains over 100,000 key words, phrases and collocations in English, Russian and Romanised Hindi, with clear examples and practical sentences.

 

Dr. Suman Beniwal holds an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Russian from the Centre of Russian Studies, JNU. She has been teaching Russian for the last six years. She is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Studies, University of Delhi. Prior to Joining DU, she taught Armed Forces personnel at the School of Foreign Languages, Ministry of Defence. She has been conducting Russian courses of M.Phil, M.Α., Β.Α. Interpretership, Intensive Advanced Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Certificate of Proficiency.

Dr. Suman Beniwal has presented research papers in various conferences in India and abroad. She has published papers in reputed national and international journals. She has participated in training programmes on 'Methodology of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language In India and abroad. She has also contributed towards creating the e-moudules for the M.A Programme (Russian) of SOFL, IGNOU.
